TRAILS CLUB OF ROSSMOOR - GROUP NAMES/HIKE DESCRIPTIONS
The Trails Club’s hikes fall into the following categories. Often, members hike in several categories. However, hike leaders should keep these limits in mind when planning hikes.
• NON-HIKERS (N): Those who belong to the Club but are not currently hiking
• MONDAY MORNING WALKERS (M): Meet in front of Peacock Hall and walk up to 4 miles on the golf course
• AMBLERS (A): Hike 3 to 5 miles at a moderate pace, up to 500 feet elevation gain.
• RAMBLERS (R): Hike 5 to 7 miles at moderate pace, up to 1500 feet elevation gain. Normally at a slower pace if more elevation gain.
• TREKKERS (T): Hike 6-8 miles at a moderate pace up to 1800 feet, and at a slower pace up to 2000 feet
• SCRAMBLERS (S): Hike 6 to 9 miles, moderate pace up to 2000 feet elevation gain or possible faster pace if less than
1000 feet elevation gain.
• POWER SCRAMBLERS: 9 to 13 miles, moderate pace up to 3000 feet elevation gain or faster pace up to 1500 feet elevation gain. Normally averages one per month in lieu of the Scrambler hike.
