When to Call 911

A card with emergency phone numbers is attached to each First Aid kit.

Some signs a hiker is in distress and needs immediate medical care:
  1. Cannot stand independently, cannot communicate their needs, is having trouble breathing or is experiencing severe pain.
  2. Bleeding can't be stopped and/or there are obvious signs of a broken bone or severe sprain that prevents walking.
  3. Suspected stroke or heart attack.
  4. Allergic reaction to a bee sting and no epi-pen is available.

Storing Health Info

A completed Health Form Card should be carried by all hikers. Contact Anne Squire if you don't have a card.

In addition, it's recommended that hikers store Emergency Info on their cell phones.
