Duties of Hike Captains and Annual Hike Coordinator
The incoming V.P. has selected the monthly hike leaders for the Scramblers, Ramblers, and Amblers, by November for inclusion in the Directory and the Web site.
Each captain of the month is responsible for the selection of hikes leaders for their month.
If requested , captains are to assist hike leaders in planning destinations and other details of the hike. Captains should attempt to develop a few new hike leaders before going to the regulars each month. See "Scouting Mondays" under Hiking News for help with destination planning.
No later than the 15th of the month, prior to the Hike month, the Captain will E-mail the club Correspondent /Secretary the leaders name ,choice of destination and the date of the hike. The hike schedule should appear in the last Rossmoor News of each month.
The Secretary will E-mail a copy of hike schedule directly to the Web page coordinator to be placed on our site and will print some hard copies to be passed out at the meeting place for those members without Web access.
If possible, hike destinations are required, including approximate miles and degree of difficulty for publication each month. The leader should prepare an alternate hike in case of rain.
Sign -up sheets will be available at the meeting place. The V.P. will have the sign-up sheets with the "black sign-up boxes", the passes to Reservoirs and EBRP and other information available for member distribution. The leader will take the sign-up sheet with them on the hike and return it with any passes to the Trails box on the next hiking day .
Captains should stress that each leader
* check that each hiker has signed the Rossmoor Trails Club waiver
* has the First Aid pack
* If possible get cell phone #s of hike participants and cell phone #s of car pool members.
