Optional Commernts
This is a great hike for Ramblers, a litlle challenging, but worth the effort. The Scramblers would also appreciate the flowers, hills and views. I did not lead the hike suggested on our online map site. Here are my directions: From the parking lot walk a few feet, cross the footbridge and turn right on Canyon View Trail. Continue on CV as it follows the creek. After you cross the creek take a left on Indian Joe Trail. Do not veer left onto IJ Nature Trail but continue straight (you will see a gate). You will cross several creeks and there are a few steep switch backs. Keep climbing to Cave Rocks Rd. turn right and go a short distance on Cave Rocks to Eagle View (Stay left).Go left on EV, you'll climb for a while and then hit a narrow trail (Vista Grande) which takes you along the ridge with beautiful flowers and views. You will end up at Vista Granda Summit, a great place for lunch if not too windy. From the summit follow the signs to Flag Hill Trail( a left from the stone monument). Go down Flag Hill until you come to a junction with a large rock marker.(Also a huge, beautiful tree.) Turn left and follow the trail past the barn. Continue past the barn and take Hayfield down to the parking lot.
