Technology

Anne is keeping the announcement space up-to-date. Upcoming events are also posted on the website.

The calendar has 3 new fields to include:

type of hike such as trail, pavement or mixed.

elevation gain

There is one more field that can be added. Mary suggested posting a phone number for the leader. It’s noted that this presents privacy issues as it will be a searchable field. The AllTrails link is already available and is not a required field. Anne suggests making the length of the drive put into a required field. Harriet suggested assigning a season of the year that would work for a particular hike. Another suggestion for the field would record elevation change over the length of the hike.

The "Where" field label has been updated to “Driving Directions (trail head/ parking with map link)” The trail head often appears on the Google map. This information in our database will be useful for organizing future hikes. Anne plans on training the quarterly captains to require this data in order to post a hike to the calendar.

Anne monitors comments and suggestions via “Contact us” on the website. Also, anytime someone registers for an event that information comes into this mailbox.

Mary reported that a workshop for quarterly captains on the “TeamUp” app will be included in future training.
