Should Mt. Diablo allow bikes on single-track trails?

Mt Diablo is conducting a pilot program for the month of May, allowing bikes on 5 single track trails which are normally closed to bikes.  They are asking for public feedback.

There has been a huge push during the last few years by bike groups wanting to be able to ride the single tracks, and the park, while saying that the bikes aren’t going to be allowed on the single tracks, has let the bikers widen and “improve” the single tracks, which also means pulling out native plants. The risk of injury is great to a hiker or horse, because the bikers who clock and post themselves going 35-40 miles an hour on these trails, can’t stop to avoid hitting someone.  There have been many close calls and many complaints which has seemed to fall on deaf ears.

So here’s your chance to weigh in on bikes being allowed to travel the single tracks.  Feedback to:

Mountain biking on Mount Diablo State Park's singletrack is allowed only on Oyster Point Trail, Buckeye Trail, Diablo Ranch Trail, Mother's Trail, and sections of the Summit/Dan Cook Trail.
